Call for Artists
2019 Photography Exhibition
The Charlevoix Photography Club, Inc. (CPC) is pleased to accept submissions for its Eleventh Annual Art Juried Photography Exhibition on Tuesday August 6, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday August 7 from 10 a.m. to 12:00 pm at the Depot located at 307 Chicago Avenue, Charlevoix, Michigan.
Gretchen Dorian, a photographer and artist from Petoskey Michigan will jury the Exhibition. Gretchen is a lifelong photographer. She began with her own darkroom at age 15, and went on to graduate from Paier College of Art with an emphasis on photography and design. Her photography has been in exhibited in juried exhibitions at The Louvre, The Czech Republic and most recently, in Barcelona for the Julia M. Cameron Exhibition. Wooden Boat, Sailing World, SAIL, TRAVERSE, MICHIGAN BLUE and Runner Tracks Magazines have published her work.
The Exhibition is open to all Fine Art Photographic Images. There are no limitations as to when or where the Art was created. Images may be entered in the following categories:
Recognition will be given for first, second, and third place images in each category. The Juror will also select, at her discretion, images she deems appropriate for Honorable Mention awards.
A distinguishing feature of the CPC Exhibition is that all accepted entries are juried while hanging in the exhibition hall. To enter the Exhibition, ready to hang art must be brought to the Depot and the submission process completed by 12:00 p.m. August 7.

THE OPENING RECEPTION WILL BE HELD AT CHARLEVOIX HISTORIC DEPOT BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 6:00 P.M. AND 8:30 P.M. ON FRIDAY AUGUST 9, 2019. THE EXHIBITION AWARDS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE RECEPTION. THE EXHIBITION WILL RUN FROM AUGUST 9TH, TO AUGUST 12, 2019

- Submitted images must be photographic in origin.
- To enter the juried CPC Fine Art Exhibition a non-refundable registration fee of $40 (for artists 19 years of age and older) and $20 (for artists 18 years of age or younger) is required. Entries will be limited to four images per artist.
- The registration fee for the juried Exhibition entitles an artist to submit two images in the juried Exhibition. Subject to the four images per artist limitation in paragraph two; the artist may purchase up to two more entries in the juried Exhibition for an additional fee of $15 per image.
- All art submitted must be on print media ready to hang.
- At the time of registration the artist must complete and submit an entry form and deliver a digital copy of each submitted image in JPEG format with a resolution of not less than 300 pixels per inch and a maximum size of 5mb. Digital images are to be titled as follows: artist’s last name, title of image (i.e. Smith birds in flight). Submitted art will not be hung if registration process is not completed.
- The registration form may be downloaded from www.charlevoixphotographyclub.org
- For each image registered the artist must provide (a) title of the image, (b) the dimensions of the ready-to-hang art, and (d) contact information for the artist.
- The Artist’s name, phone number, image title and selling price must be affixed to the back of the image prior to drop off.
- Submitted art must be photographic in origin.
- Artists may not be identified on the front of the artwork. Images may be signed after the show is judged.
- Neither the CPC nor the Charlevoix Historical Society (including members, volunteers and employees) will be responsible for any damage to any art submitted. It is suggested that photographers carry separate insurance.
- Art previously exhibited in any prior CPC Exhibition is not eligible for submission.
- Artists will be notified by email in the event submitted art is not selected for the Exhibition and may pick up their artwork during normal gallery hours at any time during the Exhibition.
- Monday August 12th, from 6:00-8:00pm, the juror will present a review of images on display. Following this review, art must be picked up at the Depot. Art not picked up will become the property of CPC to dispose of as it deems appropriate
- The submitting artist grants CPC permission to reproduce and publish invited entries for educational and promotional purposes.
- Registering and submitting art for the exhibition constitutes agreement with all of these rules/requirements.
